Frequently Asked Questions
What type of stain do you use?
We exclusively use the oil-based Wood Defender® stains. Learn more about these stains and the available colors here.
How long does the staining process take?
Job completion time will vary:
- If fence cleaning is required, the process takes two days—one day to clean and the second to stain.
- For new fences that don’t require cleaning, it is a one-day process.
Each step requires three to five hours to complete.
Do you pressure wash fences?
We do not pressure wash due to the damage that this process causes to the homeowners’ fence.
Pressure washing destroys the wood’s natural grain and may blow out knots on older fences, diminishing the final appearance after staining.
Do you do minor fence repairs?
Yes, we will replace up to 10 pickets in your fence (not part of a gate) at no additional charge. However, customer must supply picket material.
What kind of guarantees or warranties do you offer?
Our guarantees are based on the type of stain that a customer selects:
- Transparent stain allows the wood’s natural grain to show through better and carries a 2-year warranty.
- Semi-transparent stain, which is primarily used on older fences to better mask wear and protect more, comes with a 3-year warranty.
How long have you been in business?
Quality Wood Fence Stain has been in business since 2012.
What are "Zero Caps" and how can they help me?
“Zero Caps” are exclusive to Quality Wood Fence Stain, making us the only fence staining company in the nation guaranteeing no more UGLY water stains on your wooden fence. “Zero Caps” are universal to all brands of popup sprinkler heads in North America and can be installed in a snap.
Do you spray, brush, or roll on your stain?
We spray, brush, and roll on our stain to protect our customers’ homes from overspray and damage. All employees are Wood Defender® certified in application of the Wood Defender® stain products as well as protection of your property and landscape.
Is Quality Wood Fence Stain bonded?
Yes, we are bonded and able to provide proof upon request.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept most forms of payment, including check and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover).
Can you protect my grass and landscaping from damage?
Yes, we cover landscaping to ensure that the stain affects only 3 to 4 inches of grass, directly under the fence. Expect these areas to grow back fully within 2 weeks.
